FAQ
Why doesn't this 1980s team have a T20 rating?
Sides like West Indies '84 never played T20, so we don't show them a T20 number. Behind the scenes the engine still estimates how each player would fare in T20 — derived from their one-day game and adjusted for their style — so your XI is still judged in the T20 World Cup. Some old greats convert brilliantly; some don't.
“As they were” vs “In their Pomp”?
“As they were” rates each player for the exact year you draw them in. “In their Pomp” is easy mode: every player is set to the height of their powers across all three formats, so you can build a monster XI.
Classic vs Expert?
Classic shows each player's rating across all three formats, with the drawn format highlighted. Expert hides the numbers — you draft on names and roles alone.
How are results decided?
By a match-simulation engine, not a rating cut-off. Ratings feed batting and bowling strength; the sim plays out innings with format-appropriate scores and variance — T20 is high-variance, Tests are steadier and can even be drawn.
Why can't I use an opener as my spinner?
Players are locked to the roles they actually played. A part-time bowler never fills a frontline pace or spin slot — an opener can't be your spinner.
Is this official?
No. Pomp is an unofficial fan game. Ratings and results are illustrative and simulated, and it isn't affiliated with any board, league or competition.
